18 Weeks, Department of Health

The aim of the 18 Weeks programme is that by December 2008 patients who want it, and for whom it is clinically appropriate, can expect to start their treatment within a maximum of 18 weeks from GP referral. The NHS is on track to deliver the March milestone of 90% of non-admitted and 85% of admitted patients starting treatment within 18 weeks, which is a major success for the NHS.
