UKRC is the leading and largest diagnostic imaging event in the UK. Building on the success of last year’s meeting in Liverpool the format of UKRC is continuing to evolve. The multidisciplinary working party will deliver a dynamic and exciting Congress, covering all aspects of diagnostic imaging and oncology. Whether your interests are in clinical service delivery, management, informatics or research, the Congress has exciting sessions and presentations to offer.
In addition to ‘State of the Art’ lectures from the clinical and practical perspectives in multiple imaging subspecialties there are numerous sessions on advances in technology and imaging development. Just confirmed will be: 'The BIR Toshiba Mayneord Memorial Eponymous lecture' which will be delivered by Dr John Buscombe on: “Exploring the nature of atheroma in-vivo using PET”
The healthcare environment is rapidly changing with major challenges in delivery. Funding gaps are widening and there are increasing expectations with pressure from the public, those commissioning the services and colleagues requesting imaging investigations. Demands are multifaceted and increasing exponentially. Is adversity an opportunity for innovation or are we faced with a fractured service? Factors such as discrepancies and learning opportunities (some would term ‘errors’!), the challenge of 24/7 working and how to address issues brought out by The Francis Report are going to be discussed and debated – we expect controversy!
In line with the feedback provided form previous meetings we are continuing the very popular practical ultrasound sessions, opportunities for interactive learning with voting, updates on OsiriX and tutorials on imaging topics (trainee and advanced).
With multiple CPD opportunities; including hands on workshops, master classes, talks delivered by high-profile speakers and accredited education on the stands, there will be something of interest to everyone across the disciplines involved in medical imaging– we look forward to seeing you in Manchester in June!
